Description

Takashi Soga researches ancient Bizen ware and uses it as inspiration for his creative work.
He does not use any kiln tools made with modern chemical materials.
He aims to recreate the environment in which ancient Bizen ware was produced within his own atelier.
His work, created in this unique environment, bears a striking resemblance to ancient Bizen ware.
This piece is his new dish, which was just fired in July 2020.
The clay components appear as black, glistening dots on the surface.
The light brown clay color and the dark reddish-brown Hidasuki are reminiscent of the work of Ken Fujiwara.

He was born in Tokyo in 1984.
He became a disciple of Jun Isezaki in 2009.
He built a kiln in Bizen City in 2012 and began his career as a ceramist the following year.
