Description
Takashi Soga researches old Bizen ware and uses it as inspiration for his creative work.
He does not use any kiln tools made with modern chemical materials.
He aims to recreate the environment in which old Bizen ware was produced within his own atelier.
His work, created in this unique environment, bears a strong resemblance to old Bizen ware.
This piece is his new Kohuku Chawan, which was fired in July 2020.
This Kohuku Chawan is crafted with extreme lightness, reflecting his dedication to his craft.
"Kohuku" means to drink a little.
It can also be used as a large Yunomi tea cup.
He was born in Tokyo in 1984.
He became a disciple of Jun Isezaki in 2009.
He built a kiln in Bizen City in 2012 and began his career as a ceramist the following year.
