Description
He inherits the skills of his father, Sozan Kaneshige.
I feel Sozan Kaneshige's powerful and intense design in his work.
And since they have valued their clay for generations, they have excellent clay.
This Guinomi was fired in October 2020.
He fired it in a spot at the back of the climbing kiln where Yohen (kiln transformations) could occur.
A large amount of heated charcoal poured over the piece, forming a lava-like fire pattern.
However, the Bizen clay withstood the heat, leaving behind a beautiful red clay color.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1945 as the eldest son of Sozan Kaneshige.
He graduated from Kyoto University in 1969.
He became his father's apprentice.
