Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
"Hikidashi" refers to the technique of removing a piece from the kiln while it is still firing.
Pieces that come into contact with the outside air cool rapidly, resulting in a color different from standard Bizen ware.
In this piece, the pine ash that has adhered to the surface becomes transparent, resembling amber.
The black areas are coated with a special clay and turn indigo due to the Hikidashi effect.
The simple design allows you to fully appreciate the indigo beauty of this guinomi sake cup.
In the past, Bizen ware was never used to express concepts like the universe or the sky.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active since 2000.
