Description
Shuroku Harada studied old Bizen ware.
He was a student of ceramics researcher Matasaburo Katsura.
The knowledge he gained serves as the foundation for his pottery style.
He has not fired a kiln in recent years.
Based on the condition of the wooden box and the enclosed resume, I presume this was made around 1980–1990.
This tokkuri exhibits a style different from his current work.
The high-quality clay has taken on three distinct colors.
He shaped the piece by shaving it with a wooden spatula.
While he now incorporates more visible cuts, he did not feature many shavings in this particular piece.
He was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1941.
He became a potter in 1969.
He became a disciple of Matasaburo Katsura in 1975 and studied Old Bizen.
