Description

Kousuke Kaneshige is the third son of Toyo Kaneshige.
He lives in Kagato, Bizen City, a historic home to potters.
He creates traditional Bizen ware and innovative sculptures, upholding the teachings of his father, Toyo Kaneshige.
This Guinomi is his latest work, fired at the end of 2020.
A bold "Yohen" style Guinomi, it was fired in a large bed of burning charcoal.
Yet, thanks to a careful finish, the rough surface typical of Yohen is absent, replaced by a soft texture.

Born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1943, he is the third son of Toyo Kaneshige.
He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1968.
He built his own kiln in 1982.
