Description

Kazuki Nakamura is the grandson of Rokuro Nakamura.
The Nakamura clan specializes in sake vessels such as tokkuri and guinomi.
This piece is a Bizen ware dish known as a "tataki sara."
"Tataki" translates to "strike" in English.
The clay is struck with a stone, wooden stick, or bare hand to stretch it into a circular shape.
Its wild and powerful modeling, which cannot be achieved with a potter's wheel, is highly appealing.

He was born in 1980 in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura.
He graduated from Okayama University in 2003.
He became an independent ceramic artist in 2006.
