Description

Jun Isazaki is a Living National Treasure in Bizen ware. (The fifth person for Bizen ware)
He fires his works using a straight tunnel kiln called an "Anagama."
The flame of the Anagama kiln blows into the back of the kiln all at once.
The fired works feature brown or white gradations based on a bright red.
The clay used for this work contains a significant amount of sand.
A large stone is embedded in the lower front part of the work.
The carefully carved stone is fascinating, appearing like the navel of the work.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1936.
He graduated from Okayama University in 1959.
He was designated as a Living National Treasure in 2004.
