Description

Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This new work was fired in 2021.
"Hikidashi" refers to the process of removing a piece from the kiln while it is still being fired.
The pieces exposed to the outside air cool rapidly, resulting in a color different from standard Bizen ware.
In this work, the pine ash deposit has become transparent and resembles amber.
The black section is coated in a special clay and has turned indigo due to the hikidashi effect.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active in the field since 2000.
