Description
Koichiro Isezaki is Jun Isezaki's eldest son.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This new work was fired in 2021.
He creates pieces using standard Bizen clay, then applies a black clay coating after the pieces have dried.
The "Kuro" (black) slip is made from iron-rich clay from the Osafune district of Okayama Prefecture.
A small amount of cobalt is added after dissolving the clay in water to create a liquid state.
The black clay applied to the work transforms into a beautiful black color when fired.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and began his professional practice in 2000.
