Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses the same wood-fired climbing kiln (known as anagama in Japan) as his father and his father's disciple.
This work exhibits the characteristic shades of an anagama kiln.
It features bright colors including brown and white against a red base.
The brown areas have a glass-like luster resulting from natural ash glaze and the iron content in the clay.
The interior clay was scraped out with a wooden spatula, creating an appearance as if a hole had been drilled.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in NY and has been active since 2000.
