Description
Jun Isazaki is a Living National Treasure in Bizen ware. (The fifth person to be recognized for Bizen ware)
He fires his works using a straight-hole kiln known as an "Anagama."
The flames of the Anagama kiln rush into the back of the kiln in a single burst.
The fired works feature brown or white gradations layered over a bright red base.
He wraps his works in rice straw before firing them.
The color and pattern of the rice straw vary from piece to piece due to the effects of the natural glaze.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1936.
He graduated from Okayama University in 1959.
He was designated a Living National Treasure in 2004.
