Description

This is a work from the middle period of Kei Fujiwara's career.
His signature is an early form.
My guess is that it was created when he was around 60 years old.
It includes a pamphlet for his solo exhibition held at the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
This is likely the piece that was exhibited in his solo exhibition at that time.
The Yohen (kiln transmutation) that appears throughout the piece has a wonderful, almost wet texture and a beautiful gray color.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1899.
He was a writer, but became a potter in 1940.
He was designated as a Living National Treasure in 1970.
He passed away in 1983.
