Description

He is a disciple of Ryuichi Kakurezaki.
He learned about Kakurezaki's innovative design and Anagama firing methods.
He creates his works using standard Bizen clay and applies black clay after the pieces have dried.
The "Kuro" (black) clay is made from earth with a high iron content found in the Osafune district of Okayama prefecture.
A small amount of cobalt is added after dissolving the clay in water to create a liquid slip.
The black clay applied to the work transforms into a beautiful black finish when fired.
This work is removed from the kiln while still hot during the firing process, resulting in its vivid color.

He was born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1977.
He began his apprenticeship under Ryuichi Kakurezaki in 2005.
He became an independent ceramic artist in 2016.
