Description

Mitsuru Isezaki is one of the potters who inherited the Bizen ware tradition redeveloped by Toyo Kaneshige.
His pottery style is simple and unadorned, showcasing the natural quality of the clay.
This guinomi features a beautiful texture derived from high-quality clay.
The interior of this guinomi displays a "Hikaburi-Yohen" fire pattern.
I believe the interior of this guinomi was filled with burning charcoal during the firing process.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1934.
He was designated as a holder of an important intangible cultural asset by the prefecture in 1998.
He passed away in 2011.
