Description
Makoto Nakamura is the eldest son of Rokuro Nakamura.
He faithfully reproduces the style of Rokuro Nakamura.
He is also skilled at making sake ware, just like Rokuro Nakamura.
This tokkuri was fired in October 2021.
The characteristic of the Nakamura clan is their red clay color.
However, this work was fired in such intense flames that it lost its red clay hue.
The melted ash has solidified, transforming into a texture like black stone.
Only the sides of the body remain "kase-goma" due to the difference in how the fire hit them.
The kase-goma portion shows the very vivid red clay color that is typical of his work.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1949.
He began an apprenticeship under his father, Rokuro Nakamura, in 1971.
He became independent as a ceramic artist in 1975.
