Description
Jun Isazaki is a Living National Treasure in Bizen ware. (Fifth person in Bizen ware)
This Mizusashi was fired by him around 2004.
He fires his work using a straight hole-shaped kiln called an "Anagama".
The flames of an Anagama kiln rush into the back of the kiln all at once.
This is a "Yohen" (kiln-transmutation) Mizusashi, which can only be fired in specific spots within an Anagama kiln.
This Mizusashi features an excellent flame pattern due to the extremely high heat intensity.
Anagama Yohen is usually charcoal gray, but this Mizusashi is a beautiful black.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1936.
He graduated from Okayama University in 1959.
He was designated as a Living National Treasure in 2004.
