Description

Mitsuru Isezaki is one of the potters who inherited the Bizen ware tradition redeveloped by Toyo Kanesige.
His pottery style is simple and undecorated, designed to showcase the inherent quality of the clay.
This piece includes a resume up to 2004, marking it as one of the final works of his career.
He fired his Hidasuki pieces in a Noborigama kiln without relying on electric or gas kilns.
The light brown clay color and mist-like Goma (ash glaze) are clean and beautiful, making them perfect for tableware.
The edges and Koudai (foot) are crafted with great care, reflecting his thoughtful attention to detail.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1934.
He was recognized as an Important Intangible Cultural Asset by the prefecture in 1998.
He passed away in 2011.
