Description

Takashi Soga researches old Bizen ware and uses it as inspiration for his creative work.
He does not use any kiln tools made with modern chemical materials.
He aims to recreate the environment in which old Bizen ware was produced within his own atelier.
His work, created in this unique environment, bears a striking resemblance to old Bizen ware.
The fire pattern on this Tokkuri sake bottle is similar to the Yohen effects seen in Noborigama kilns.
However, it also possesses the distinct characteristics of his own original kiln.
The bare clay sections untouched by ash are dull and display a complex color, just like antique Bizen ware.

He was born in Tokyo in 1984.
He became a disciple of Jun Isezaki in 2009.
He built a kiln in Bizen City in 2012 and began his career as a ceramist the following year.
