Description
Koichiro Isezaki is Jun Isezaki's eldest son.
He uses the same wood-fired tunnel kiln (known as anagama in Japan) as his father and his father's apprentice.
This guinomi was fired in March 2022.
This piece was placed inside a sayabachi and fired in an anagama kiln.
A sayabachi is a protective container made of refractory clay.
He softened rice straw by beating it, then rolled it up and placed it on the base and inside the guinomi.
A serene world of clay-white and straw-red hues was born.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active since 2000.
