Description

He is a disciple of Ryuichi Kakurezaki.
He learned about Kakurezaki's innovative design and Anagama firing methods.
This vessel was fired in May 2022.
He creates works using standard Bizen clay, applying black clay after the pieces have dried.
"Kuro" is made from clay with a high iron content found in the Osafune district of Okayama Prefecture.
A small amount of cobalt is added after dissolving it in water to create a liquid slip.
The black clay applied to the work transforms into a beautiful black when fired.
And this vessel features a very special kiln effect.
The bright, transparent light blue pattern is a unique color.
I wondered if this effect was achieved through the Hikidashi technique, but it was not.

He was born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1977.
He became a disciple of Ryuichi Kakurezaki in 2005.
He became independent as a ceramic artist in 2016.
