Description
Yuho Kaneshige is the third son of Sozan Kaneshige.
He inherited the Kaneshige family's Imbe-ware kiln from his father.
He long produced works in the traditional Kaneshige style.
However, around 2018, he embarked on a new challenge.
He demolished the kiln inherited from his father and constructed a more primitive one.
This yunomi is a piece fired in that primitive kiln.
In recent years, he has frequently used this kiln to produce symmetrical chawan (tea bowls) without natural ash glaze.
This is a highly appealing yunomi, directly reflecting the techniques used in creating those tea bowls.
This yunomi was fired in November 2022.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1950, the third son of Sozan Kaneshige.
He began his apprenticeship under his father in 1975.
He became independent as a ceramic artist in 1980.
