Description

Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This Guinomi was fired in March 2023.
White clay from Imbe was used as the base for this piece.
In addition, black clay is partially applied to create a "kakewake" effect.
The "kuro" (black) is made from clay with a high iron content from the Osafune district of Okayama Prefecture.
A small amount of cobalt is added after dissolving the materials in water to create a liquid slip.
The black clay applied to the work transforms into a beautiful black finish when fired.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in NY and has been active since 2000.
