Description
Takashi Baba is a ceramic style that combines sculpture and Bizen ware.
He uses a lot of shavings and patterns to create highly artistic works.
This cup was fired by him in April 2023.
Based on Bizen clay, it was glazed with Shino and baked in a Bizen climbing kiln.
He applies black clay to the base of the piece and then further applies a transparent glaze to make it appear blue.
The Shino glaze changed to more complex shades in the climbing kiln.
He named it "Ao Shino" (Blue Shino) because of the beautiful blue color.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1983.
He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006.
