Description

Kazuki Nakamura is the grandson of Rokuro Nakamura.
The Nakamura clan specializes in sake vessels such as tokkuri and guinomi.
This piece is a Bizen ware dish known as a "Tataki sara."
"Tataki" means to strike.
It refers to striking the clay with a stone, wooden tool, or bare hand to stretch it into a circular shape.
The appeal lies in the wild, powerful modeling that cannot be achieved on a potter's wheel.

He was born in 1980 in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura.
He graduated from Okayama University in 2003.
He became an independent ceramic artist in 2006.
