Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This new work was fired in November 2023.
This piece is made using a special white clay collected in the Inbe area.
He fired it without glaze, but the white clay component produced a fire pattern with a color distinct from traditional Bizen ware.
The outer surface has a luster as if it were coated in glass.
What would originally be yellow or brown "goma" (ash glaze), which is close to gold, has shifted to a muddy white or transparent blue.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in NY and has been active since 2000.
