Description
Koichiro Isezaki is Jun Isezaki's eldest son.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama".
This guinomi was fired in November 2023.
"Hikidashi" refers to the technique of removing the work from the kiln while it is still firing.
The pieces exposed to the outside air cool rapidly, resulting in a color different from standard Bizen ware.
In this work, the fused pine ash becomes transparent, resembling amber.
The black section is coated with a special clay and takes on an indigo hue due to the hikidashi effect.
The simple design allows you to fully appreciate the indigo beauty of this guinomi.
In the past, Bizen ware was never used to express the universe or the sky.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in NY and has been active since 2000.
