Description

He is a disciple of Ryuichi Kakurezaki.
He learned about Kakurezaki's innovative design and Anagama firing methods.
This glass was fired in November 2023.
He creates works using standard Bizen clay, applying black slip after the piece has dried.
"Kuro" (black) is made using clay with a high iron content from the Osafune district of Okayama prefecture.
A small amount of cobalt is added after dissolving the clay in water to create a liquid slip.
The black slip applied to the work turns a beautiful black when fired.
Furthermore, this glass features a very special fire pattern.
The bright, transparent light blue fire pattern is a unique color.
I wondered if this glass effect was due to the Hikidashi technique, but it is not.

He was born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1977.
He became a disciple of Ryuichi Kakurezaki in 2005.
He became independent as a ceramic artist in 2016.
