Description

Michiaki Kaneshige is the eldest son of Toyo Kaneshige.
He creates traditional Bizen ware and innovative sculptures while following the teachings of his father, Toyo Kaneshige.
His work is very simple in style, yet it is filled with Michiaki's ceramic aesthetics.
Colors such as red, orange, purplish red, and brown change rapidly to create a complex and wonderful clay texture.
When you pour liquor into it, the clay becomes damp and takes on an even more wonderful color that intoxicates you.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1934 as the eldest son of Toyo Kaneshige.
He became his father's apprentice in 1955 after graduating from college.
He passed away in 1995.
