Description

Jun Isazaki is a Living National Treasure in Bizen ware. (The fifth person for Bizen ware)
He fires his works using a straight tunnel-shaped kiln called an "Anagama."
This beer glass was made around 2013.
The flames of the Anagama kiln blow into the back of the kiln all at once.
The fired pieces take on brown or white gradations over a bright red base.
He wrapped rice straw around his work before firing it.
The color and shape of the rice straw vary from section to section due to the influence of the natural ash glaze.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1936.
He graduated from Okayama University in 1959.
He was designated a Living National Treasure in 2004.
