Description

In recent years, he has been creating unique pieces using primitive kilns.
He has also produced a work titled "Shiro."
However, this "Shiro" was not fired in a primitive kiln, but in an electric kiln.
It was fired at a high temperature and has slight Hidasuki markings.
It is very hard, yet the surface is smooth and almost worn-looking.
The design is also interesting, as it reflects repeated shrinking and expanding on the potter's wheel.
One gets the impression that the work is not made from a single slab, but assembled like a three-dimensional puzzle.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1950 as the third son of Sozan Kaneshige.
He became his father's apprentice in 1975.
He began his independent career as a ceramic artist in 1980.
