Description
He is a disciple of Ryuichi Kakurezaki.
He studied Kakurezaki’s innovative design and Anagama firing methods.
This piece was fired in November 2023.
He creates his works using standard Bizen clay, applying a coat of black clay after drying.
The "Kuro" (black) slip is made from iron-rich clay sourced in the Osafune district of Okayama Prefecture.
A small amount of cobalt is added after dissolving the clay in water to create a liquid consistency.
The black clay applied to the piece turns a beautiful black color when fired.
Furthermore, this Guinomi features a very special kiln effect.
The bright, transparent light-blue pattern is a unique color.
I wondered if this Guinomi was created using the Hikidashi technique, but it was not.
He was born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1977.
He became a disciple of Ryuichi Kakurezaki in 2005.
He became independent as a ceramic artist in 2016.
