Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln known as an "anagama."
This new work was fired in September 2024.
This piece is made using a special white clay collected in the Inbe area.
He fired it without glaze, but the components of the white clay produced fire patterns with colors distinct from traditional Bizen ware.
The outer surface has a luster as if coated in glass.
What would originally be yellow or brown goma (ash glaze)—resembling gold—has shifted to a muddy white or translucent blue.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active in the field since 2000.
