Description

Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This Guinomi was fired in September 2024.
"Hikidashi" refers to the technique of removing the work from the kiln while it is still firing.
Works exposed to the outside air cool rapidly, resulting in a different color than standard Bizen ware.
In this piece, the accumulated pine ash becomes transparent, resembling amber.
The black section is coated with special clay and takes on an indigo hue due to the Hikidashi effect.
The simple design allows the indigo beauty of this Guinomi to take center stage.
In the past, Bizen ware was never used to represent the universe or the sky.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in NY and has been active since 2000.
