Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses the same type of tunnel kiln (known as anagama in Japan) as his father and his father's pupil.
This sake cup (sakazuki) was fired in September 2024.
He fired this piece by placing another piece over it like a hat.
A large amount of natural ash glaze coated the entire piece as if it had rained upon it.
He placed shells on the inside, which left patterns resembling butterfly wings.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active since 2000.
