Description
This Guinomi is a new work by Koji Nakahara.
It was fired in the kiln of his mentor, Fumio Kawabata.
A dragon is intricately carved across the entire surface, with the vessel imagined as a sky where the dragon glides peacefully through clouds.
Carved from a thickly formed body, the dragon features fine details in the scales, claws, and whiskers—executed with remarkable precision.
Although the piece is thick and bold in form, the weight is carefully balanced, making it surprisingly light and comfortable to hold.
To highlight the carving, natural ash glaze is applied only in selected areas.
White Kase-Goma resembling clouds and delicate Tobi-Goma inside the cup add charm to the overall expression.
He was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1978.
He has been a disciple of Fumio Kawabata since 2001.
