Description
This is a Guinomi by Rokuro Nakamura, known as a master of sake vessels.
The red clay on the front makes it even more beautiful when dampened with sake during use.
I presume this Guinomi was fired when he was around 90 years old.
The beautiful Yohen (kiln transmutation) created by the intense fire during firing is wonderful.
Other stunning scarlet clay colors and Kase-goma (ash glaze) also appear, resulting in very gorgeous firing patterns.
The undulating body is designed to fit securely in the hand.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1914.
He was taught by Toyo Kaneshige starting around 1945 and became a potter.
He passed away in 2004.
