Description
This Guinomi is a new work by Koji Nakahara.
It was fired in the kiln of his mentor, Fumio Kawabata.
This piece recalls the Shizen-Nerikomi (natural marbleized) Guinomi by Fumio Kawabata, with bold Sangiri patterns forming around the waist.
The caramel-brown clay surface adds a deep, earthy tone that matches the firing beautifully.
The outer surface features dynamic Nerikomi patterns resembling rising flames, while the inside shows layered clay textures similar to polished marble.
Due to the soft, melt-prone nature of the Shizen-Nerikomi clay, the form was carefully shaped and adjusted by hand.
Though large in size, the piece feels light and fits comfortably in the hand.
He was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1978.
He has been a disciple of Fumio Kawabata since 2001.
