Description
Michiaki Kaneshige is the eldest son of Toyo Kaneshige.
He creates traditional Bizen ware and innovative sculptures while following the teachings of his father, Toyo Kaneshige.
His work is very simple in style, yet it is filled with Michiaki's ceramic aesthetics.
Red, orange, purplish-red, brown, and other colors shift rapidly to create a complex and wonderful clay texture.
When you pour liquor into his vessels, the clay color becomes moist and takes on an even more wonderful hue that intoxicates the senses.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1934 as the eldest son of Toyo Kaneshige.
He became his father's apprentice in 1955 after graduating from college.
He passed away in 1995.
