Description
Jun Isazaki is a Living National Treasure of Bizen ware. (The fifth person for Bizen ware)
He fires his works using a straight tunnel kiln called an "Anagama."
The flames of the Anagama kiln blow directly into the back of the kiln all at once.
The fired works feature gradations of brown or white against a bright red base.
He wraps his works in rice straw before firing them.
The color and pattern of the rice straw vary from piece to piece due to the effects of the natural glaze.
