Description

Born in Imbe and deeply devoted to Bizen ware since childhood, Takashi Baba is an artist who finds true joy in both creating his works and firing his kiln. This is a Bizen Kuro Yunomi by Baba.

This Yunomi features Baba’s signature Kuro-Bizen finish created with a black slip. The stylish black surface pairs beautifully with the piece’s fresh, modern design.

The richly fired black slip gives off a subdued, gunmetal-like sheen across the surface, drawing you in with its distinctive, almost metallic texture.

Around the rim, you can see traces of natural ash carried by the flame. On the front in particular, the ash has formed a thick, dramatic Goma flow with a pronounced dripping effect.

With its slightly wide, orthodox rounded form, it is comfortable to use not only as a Yunomi, but also as a small rocks glass.
