Description
Hiroshi Goseki trained under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki before establishing his kiln in Ibaraki. This is a Hiyama-Bizen small bowl by Hiroshi Goseki.
This small bowl was created using a blend of Bizen and Hiyama clay, fired in the anagama kiln he built in Hiyama, Hitachiomiya City.
Perhaps due to the influence of the Hiyama clay, it has a rough, earthy texture to the touch, and the strong "hiro" clay tone gives it a charm distinct from that of pure Bizen ware.
Around the exterior, the natural ash glaze has a deeply appealing texture reminiscent of wet river stones, while its pale, milky-white tone creates an interesting contrast with the "hiro" color of the clay.
This medium-sized bowl is finished with very thin wheel-throwing, making it a versatile piece suitable for a wide range of uses, such as for desserts or side dishes.
Born in Chiba Prefecture in 1988.
Became a student of Jun Isezaki in 2013.
Became an independent potter in 2017 and built a kiln in Ibaraki Prefecture in 2019.
