Description

These are Bizen-ware husband-and-wife teacups by Noriyuki Nakamoto, who has been involved with pottery in Imbe since his university days and studied under Shin Isezaki. These pieces are from the first firing of a handmade anagama (tunnel kiln) and feature a stylish, modern finish. They are large and versatile, with a moderate amount of "goma" (ash glaze) on the rims that provides a lustrous texture and a pleasant mouthfeel. Bizen ware is known for its high heat retention, keeping your tea hot for a long time so you can savor it slowly. With subtle differences in color—one in a reddish-brown earth tone and the other in a more subdued brown—these cups are perfect for couples to enjoy together.
