Bizen Yunomi by Yoshiteru Takariki

Hello everyone. It has started to feel a lot like summer, but how are you all doing?
On muggy, sweltering days, a nice cold cup of tea really hits the spot, doesn't it?
There are many kinds, such as green tea, barley tea, and oolong tea—which is your favorite?
I personally prefer green tea on hot days, oolong tea with meals, and barley tea after sports.
Pouring tea into a chilled Bizen ware teacup with a pleasant, rhythmic sound makes it taste all the more exceptional.
So, this time, I would like to introduce these lovely teacups by Yoshiteru Koriki.

Despite their slightly small stature, their thin-walled construction gives them a charming presence.
Furthermore, because they are so thin, they feel great against the lips, making for a refreshing drinking experience.
They truly are the perfect pieces for enjoying a cold cup of tea.

The understated and refined "scenery" of the clay, characteristic of Mr. Koriki’s work, is also quite captivating.
The earthy texture of the body features a subtle red kiln-change, which further accentuates the rich, dense quality of the clay.
The moderately applied "sesame" ash glaze is also deeply expressive and serves as a natural coating for the rim.

If you chill them beforehand and add some ice, the condensation on the surface will reveal even more stunning visual depth.
These are magnificent teacups with so many intricate details to enjoy even after you’ve finished your drink.
