Yoshinobu Morimoto - Ibe Dragon Ear Flower Vase

We have received the latest work from Yoshinobu Morimoto.
Amidst various changing circumstances, it seems he has landed a masterpiece.
Though he may still seem as small as a grain of sand, I believe he is beginning to reveal his presence to the world little by little.
It has been ten years since he threw himself into the torrent that is the school of Anjin-sensei.
Even while nearly being swallowed by that torrent, he is a person who has never lost sight of his "self" and continues to express that "self."
Not mere imitation, but evolution, and on to a different dimension.
I truly hope he will take flight like a dragon ascending into the blue sky.

This piece seems to capture the very moment the clay is pulsing with life.
The energy from within the clay erupts through the surface, making a "popping" sound,
with molten iron spewing out from the skin.
While such iron eruptions are usually seen as flaws, here they have become a magnificent landscape.
It is a work where the "pockmarks" are not just beautiful, they are a charming feature.
