[Microcosm in the Palm: Houhin and Incense Burner Exhibition epilogue] Bizen Houhin by Tokei Mimura

Hello everyone. Today, as an epilogue to our Hobin (teapot) exhibition, I would like to introduce a Hobin by the artist Mimura Tokei.
Unfortunately, I did not have this piece during the exhibition, so I was unable to include it; however, I wanted you to see it, so I updated the site immediately to feature it.

Mimura Tokei is known, much like Toyo and Furo, as someone who worked to promote Bizen ware by founding a ceramics school in Imbe during the difficult and stagnant period for the craft. Above all, his exceptional technique and the level of perfection in his work are still spoken of to this day.

However, his works are extremely rare, and combined with his high level of skill, he is often referred to as a "legendary master." This is surely a testament to his commitment to creating pieces with uncompromising standards, rather than mass-producing them. I believe it must have been incredibly difficult to maintain such a stance during the era in which he lived. It has made me realize anew that being called a "master" requires more than just making fine goods.

size: 9.7cm width x 8.4cm depth x 6.5cm height
price: 150,000 JPY (includes original signed box)
