岩国美術館へ行ってきました

I went to the Iwakuni Art Museum.

Hello everyone, how are you all doing?

It has been a while since my last update, as October was filled with various events like the Bizen Pottery Festival.

The weather has been getting colder, and while we will be firing the kilns more frequently from here on out,

I hope you will all take good care of your health as well.

The Iwakuni Art Museum is located at the foot of the Iwakuni Castle ruins.

Now, for today’s post, I went to the Iwakuni Art Museum to see the "Anjin Abe: A Singular Talent of Bizen" exhibition.

It was a bit cloudy in the morning, but once I arrived in Iwakuni, the sky cleared up completely, making it a perfect day for an outing.

The Iwakuni Art Museum has apparently undergone major renovations in recent years, and it was a wonderful museum with a castle-like design.

I was granted special permission to take just one photo inside.

The exhibition focuses on Anjin-sensei's works from around the year 2000 onwards, particularly his "Saishiki Bizen" (colored Bizen) series.

Viewing these profound pieces allowed me to study the evolution of his coloring technique once again.

His earliest works feature a design where the colors are combined with Bizen water jars,

and you can see chronologically how he continued to evolve and achieve the unique form of Saishiki Bizen.

Afterward, I was also able to view the curator's wonderful collection.

It is a fantastic exhibition, so I highly recommend you all pay it a visit.

The museum is at the base of the Iwakuni Castle ropeway, and there are many tourist attractions nearby.

The weather was beautiful, so I took the ropeway to the Iwakuni Castle ruins.
