Happy New Year 2019

Hello everyone, and a Happy New Year. Thank you very much for your continued patronage over the past year. We will continue to work hard this year to introduce more intriguing and heart-stirring works, and we humbly ask for your continued support of Kawaguchi Togakuen. The deep, dark kiln transformation calls to mind the ocean before dawn, while the vivid scarlet evokes the rising morning sun. Today, we are featuring a photo of a *yohen* (kiln-transformed) sake bottle and sake cup by Kosuke Kaneshige. These are the latest pieces from Mr. Kaneshige’s first kiln opening in about two years, held at the end of last year. The *yohen* effect, reminiscent of the morning sun slowly rising over a vast, silent ocean before dawn, feels very auspicious, and I chose to use it as it seemed perfect for our New Year’s greeting. We are currently preparing a special feature on new sake vessels by Kosuke Kaneshige, and we hope you will look forward to the announcement. We will post the official schedule on our website as soon as it is decided. The Staff at Kawaguchi Togakuen
