Hello everyone, how are you doing?
We are pleased to announce that Yuho Kaneshige, Hikaru Shimamura, and Ryuichi Kakurezaki have been designated as holders of Okayama Prefecture’s Important Intangible Cultural Property.
Yuho Kaneshige, who, despite being born into the prestigious Kaneshige family, has constantly questioned his own expression of beauty, and in recent years has deepened his work toward the expression of the clay itself.
Hikaru Shimamura, a top runner in traditional Bizen ceramic ornamentation, who has broken new ground with novel expressions born from a unique perspective and keen observation.
Ryuichi Kakurezaki, who took the world by storm with innovative sculptural expressions that pursued beauty as a three-dimensional form, and continues to create new art that transcends the framework of Bizen ware while remaining at the forefront.
All three have had remarkable success in recent years, making this very happy news for the world of Bizen ware.
Please look forward to their future endeavors.
