This is Aobizen (blue Bizen), but unlike the blue of the second generation and later, it has a grey, iron-like atmosphere.
The absence of the kiln-altered vermilion color is also a characteristic of the first generation.
This is an Aobizen chrysanthemum incense burner by the first generation Rakuzan Fujiwara, known as a master craftsman.
Perhaps it is this chrysanthemum incense burner that serves as the synonym for Rakuzan Fujiwara.
In fact, it is said that no two Rakuzan chrysanthemum incense burners are crafted exactly the same.
Even in incense burners that appear similar, it is said that the fine details of the craftsmanship are all different.
Among them, this piece is an exceptionally elaborate creation, rare to find,
and surely stands as one of the finest masterpieces among the chrysanthemum incense burners of the first generation Rakuzan.
From the woven-like fire cover to the three-dimensionally draped chrysanthemums and leaves,
it is an exquisite piece that seems to challenge the very limits of Bizen clay.
